knitting patterns boot toppers

I have chosen the following pattern samples because they are the easiest patterns for a beginner knitter. For many people one of the most enjoyable aspects of the craft is browsing through the many yarns available in a knitting shop.

On the left are a pair of scissors, a yarn needle, green and blue stitch markers, and two orange point protectors. New wales can be begun from any of the edges of a knitted fabric; this is known as picking up stitches and is the basis for entrelac, in which the wales run perpendicular to one another in a checkerboard pattern. A ribber is put on the machine, after the hem and purl stitches are made.

Variegated yarns can produce interesting visual effects, such as diagonal stripes; conversely, a variegated yarn may frustrate an otherwise good knitting pattern by producing distasteful color combinations. The diameter affects the size of stitches, which affects the gauge of the knitting and the elasticity of the fabric. After all, it is the experience of knitting that we are seeking, more so than the finished-object.

Even if you're a pretty proficient knitter, this isn't the time to learn a new technique or work with a skinny fingering-weight yarn that will take forever to knit up. For more knit patterns be sure to click around this site!
